The St. Catherine of Siena 1st-2nd grade basketball program is a recreational league run by parent volunteers. The program is focused primarily on skills and we will focus on the basics of learning the fundamentals of basketball. Most of the time the kids will be doing activities to learn about basketball and the goal is for them to gain confidence in dribbling, passing, and shooting the ball. The program will allocate the sessions 50% on skills and 50% on games.
The season will run for 6 weeks as follows: February 23rd, March 2nd, March 9th, March 16th, March 23rd and March 30th. Sessions will be held on Monday afternoons in the St. Catherine of Siena gym from 3:30pm to 5pm.
Registration Fee is $100 and a $25 late fee will be charged for registrations after the closing date of February 1st. A $15 sibling discount will be offered for each additional child after the first child is registered in the program.
A reversible jersey and training basketball is provided to the players and included in the registration fee.
PARENT RUN PROGRAM: All St. Catherine of Siena Athletic Ministry programs are run by active parent volunteers. We have an Athletic Director who help administer the program but the actual coaching is all done by parents. Parent participation is encouraged and you will enjoy the program more as you become active with the children. All volunteer parents must have completed the VIRTUS Program training and background screening before becoming involved with the program.
